Chocolate Chip Cookies Anna olson style

I used a Anna Olson recipe it was really good. I didn't , change anything.. usually for the first time I don't change anything. Anyways I don't even know why I am blogging this... but they were good and worth telling about:p

Fathers Day cake


Well I had orignally planned on making a cake that looked like a steak. But I kept adding red and more red and it wouldnt go dark enough(my dad was on his way so that gives me 20 mins or so to finish it.) So it is a heart. My dad said it was cute. Ha Ha...

I used a chocolate marble cake recipe I found via google.( if you want the recipe just msg me with your email and I will send it to you.




My photos arent very good because it is a camera phone.. I have not gotten around to buying a new one after mine got stolen. Anyways, I used a marshmello fondant and the first butter cream recipe they suggested at this http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm.

It turned out pretty good. I don't think I will try to make fondant again it was pretty messy, Maybe for my boyfriends birthday or you know a special occasion. The butter cream was a little salty, next time I will add less salt... And of course I will work on my piping skills:p.

Nanaimo Bars

They were great everyone loved them, the recipe called for ALOT of sugar soo I didnt add all of it because after 2 and a half it was getting rather thick... maybe I did something wrong or miscounted... either way everyone at home loved them. I gave some to my boyfriend to take to work and he admitted to eating most of them him self... ha ha.. oh well... At work they were a hit. They wanted me to make more, but I think making something else is a little more satisfying. The recipe I used was from the food network I think... I will have to dig it up when I get home.

It was tasty, Definitely should have taken a better picture but oh well... I am a foodie not a photog.. haha anyways I loved it the boyfriend loved it. Should have used bigger ones or had 2 each instead of one..

Opera Cake(DB May Challenge)


Well, I made my own blog...joy! Of course... I am late again.. Sorry I will try harder next month to fit challenge in somewhere in between my 10 hour work days, cooking dinner, and sewing stuff for random people...ha ha... i think.

Anyways so started my cake on the 28th of May.. I was pretty intimidated by this cake as it was.. well 5 pages of directions after its all said and done. I ended up copying and pasting it in to word and re-organizing so I could go through it easier and also made a list of things I would need.. Which actually only ended up being a few things, Blanched amonds and chocolate and food coloring.. which was good as my boyfriend strongly dislikes shopping.. of any kind period! On Wednesday we picked up the few things and I started with the syrup.. it was just like boiling water. excellent. But because we spent alot of time doing this and that I went to bed... The next day I couldn't fit anything in as work exploded... believe it or not I was told I could start doing 8 hour days again.. but then work exploded and I had alot of stuff to go over.. not cool. So Friday I started the rest of the cake. Starting with the Ganache... is that how you spell it? I forget anyways it turned out relatively well as I have never made it before nor did I think I would be able to fold stuff in.. As i am BRAND new to baking well not brand new but all these terms fold in and "until soft peaks form" what the heck is a soft peak anyways... when I worked in the bakery at the local grocery store it was well easier:p I had a professional, well maybe but she knew what she was talkin about. Moving on... It worked out nicely.. I then made the butter cream.. lol when I had the butter all mashed up my boyfriend decided he would come in and see what I doing and saw the butter and said " hey whats that, can I try it?" stuffs his finger in it before I even had a chance to say it was just butter. HA!

It was funny. Oh well... geez I am less than good at writing a blog about a cake.. It was really good I must say. The parts were all very VERY sweet on their own but wow did it ever taste good all together. Everyone loved it.. It was kind of plain and a little bit rushed in the end but it all worked out.
